Being Korean
This is totally random, but I want to talk about being Korean. Are any of you Korean? If so, you know what a hassle it is for people to assume that you're Chinese, or Japanese. It's like,
"Ni Hao!"
"I'm not Chinese."
"Oh! Konnichiwa!"
"Not Japanese either."
"Well, what are you then?"
WHAT ARE YOU THEN??? Do any of the people in the world know about Koreans? You don't just ask, "What are you then?" to a Korean, or anyone else. And the stupid reaction I always get from people who finally learn that I'm Korean, is, "What da gangnam style." It's not even PRONOUNCED that way!
I think people need to know about Koreans. We invented Korean Drama, which is watched all over the world. We made movable metal printing! We created Korean celadons, which are now some of the most prized artifacts in the world!! And yet, China and Japan are still more well known than us. No one knows who we are, or what we do. They all know that China manufactures things, and Japan makes anime (by the way, I am a massive Pokemon and anime fan). But what have we done to be noticed? No one wants to know about K-pop, or Korean drama. All they can talk about is their trip to Tokyo, or the amazing Great Wall of China. I don't have anything against China or Japan, but I get annoyed thinking about how Koreans are never noticed. We exist too!
Anyway, thanks for reading my weird rant about being Korean. Hoped you liked it!
